Five Nights at Freddy’s is one of those games that are very similar to other horror games. You have a certain amount of time to save your game before it ends and you’re often required to do some heavy killing. Once you’re done with one room, you move to the next until you run out of gas. The mechanics of Five Nights at Freddy’s aren’t anything groundbreaking, but it’s still fun to play. The concept is probably a little too simplified for what it’s trying to portray, but it’s an enjoyable game nonetheless [February-14-2023].

Plot
The plot of the game follows a group of teenagers who become overnight fixtures in a hotel they’re not familiar to. Freddy is the leader of the group and he’s responsible for all of the attacks that happen. The other members are Allison, Cindy, Rachel, and Madison. They’re part of a plan to stop Freddy from hurting anyone else when he turns on them.

Unlike any other title, Five Nights at Freddy’s is less interactive. This game relies on its puzzles more than anything else and without adding too much interactivity, it doesn’t really help to keep you coming back for more. However, the puzzles are some of the best you’ll find on any plat-former including the old classic Sonic the Hedgehog.

The premise behind the storyline is simple enough but effective at the same time. When you enter the first room of the five nights leading up to the attack, you’ll be greeted by a bloodied mess. There are a couple of clues within the room as well as a book that has info about what’s happened. As you search the room for clues, you’ll notice that the attacks happen quickly and often come from very specific angles.

As you move through the hotel and continue through each floor, you’ll discover more clues and the puzzles get progressively more challenging. When you finally reach the bottom floor, you’ll find a security guard waiting to attack you, forcing you to fight him off. He’ll drop down a Freddy Krueger head and you’ll need to find the treasure in order to continue. The later ones have moving parts so make sure you know how to handle them.

Five Nights at Freddy’s was released in January of this year, but it didn’t really receive much attention until a month later when the game was featured on the cover of Game Informer. Freddy started gaining popularity very quickly, and by the end of February, it had sold out completely. Everyone wanted to get their hands on it, but at the same time, there were complaints that the game was not as scary as it should be. The next update, Halloween Inc., fixed a lot of these problems, including Freddy. So fans were happy but still worried about the lack of shock value and did not look like it would be an improvement over the original release.
Just wait for the unexpected ending
Five Nights at Freddy’s isn’t just a game where you have to kill people though. If you choose to have your own night in the house, there are many scenarios that can happen. You could have a nightmare about a serial killer being loose in your neighborhood or you could be the victim of one of those pranks your friends playing on you all night long. Whatever you imagine, you can do in this game as long as you have the right supplies and equipment.
Pump House
Finally, Five Nights at Freddy’s got a Halloween-themed update called ‘Pump House’. This upgrade includes all the sounds from the game played during the nights that you play. The voices are all terrifyingly realistic. It includes the same animation style as the original game played, with all the special effects of running, jumping, and making noises against the walls. The graphics have also been improved drastically, and now Five Nights at Freddy’s looks even better than it did on the original release.

Otherwise, Five Nights at Freddy’s is still the best version of the game out there. I give it five stars because of its great playability, creepy atmosphere, and ability to scare the life out of anybody lucky enough to play it.
