Hakuoki: Premium Edition, the premium version of the anime series, is now available on Android. It’s free to download for life, and comes with a bundle of additional content. This includes premium wallpapers and a theme park premium membership. The first thing you’ll notice when you install the Hakuoki: Premium Edition application is that the old interface has been completely eliminated. This was probably one of the things that made me choose to download this version of the show in the first place. The old version was not very nice to look at, and it certainly would have been annoying if it had forced me to use the touch screen just to move stuff around. Fortunately, this new version looks much better and is actually much easier to use. There are even some nice features that you won’t find in any other android app!
For anyone who knows the manga version of hakuoki, you know that this is an epic series about a boy who can transform into a dragon. In the PSP version, you get to see this boy use his powers to fight enemies and protect the whole world. This game is very similar to the older version, and that’s why the premium version includes all the material from the manga version. The hero of the series eventually gains more skills and can defeat bigger and stronger enemies.
Of course, the story isn’t the only reason to purchase the premium edition of Hakuoki: Premium Edition. It has a lot of nice features such as the voice over, special effects, better graphics, and the previously mentioned shikai spells. The battle system is similar to the older series leader, and you can even transfer your save data from the PSP to the PC. There are also several bonus maps, additional items, and even a few secret battle missions to complete the game. I especially enjoyed completing the final boss, as he gives the game a very intense feel.
The latest version of the premium edition and has many new features as well, and it has been designed by a top designer. The main menu now sports an enhanced visual appeal that will really appeal to hardcore fans of the hakuoki series. You can even change the voice of the main character (Hakuoki) to better suit the tone of the story or battle scenes. This added voice makes the game more dramatic.
Plus, the premium version of the PSP game now includes brand new illustrations by series leader Hiroyuki Takahashi. These illustrations are drawn in a high-end style and have really come out to be some of the best-looking illustrations in the whole world. The new illustrations are also drawn in a way that will not draw much attention to the small pictures (such as when many games have very large and hard-to-see animations), so they will appeal to a wide audience without much thought. Another nice thing about the drawings and the whole package is that the resolution has been improved on both the iPhone and android devices.
In short, Hakuoki: Premium Edition has all the elements of the game that made it popular in the first place. It still features the beautiful illustrations, the great gameplay and the excellent sound effects that made this series a hit in the first place. The only thing that may have taken it down a few spots from its previous versions is the fact that it did not include voice acting in the game (at least not officially). That said, however, this does not take away from what this premium version of hakuoki does offer. It’s one of the most appealing home games out right now, and is a great example of how you can take a simple anime and make it great in video form.
