Tap Titans is back with a new level of intensity, in this second installment of the award-winning Titan Mode. As always, the storyline is wonderfully written and drawn, but the difficulty spikes really start to ramp up at about halfway through.
The actual levels themselves are not that hard, but it is when you hit the harder bosses and mission maps that the real challenges are found. Fortunately, the developers addressed this issue by making each level more challenging than the last, so that even veterans of the original game should find some of the harder levels rather hard to beat, making Titan Mode one of the best games on Facebook to play at any time of day or night.
The first time I played the game, I was somewhat under the impression that there were going to be fewer power-ups, but that was definitely not the case. I picked up the new shield as soon as I unlocked it, to help protect me from those nasty slow-moving

Titans as I approached them, but quickly discovered that there were plenty of opportunities to explode and launch myself into the air against their attacks. This ability is available in both the Story mode, where you can activate it by collecting stars on the board below the map or against a specific enemy in a match – allowing you to stay out of their attack range long enough to have time to set up a few well-placed explosions.
Unfortunately, it also allows you to be the target of the Titan’s attacks, so be careful when using it – but once you get the hang of it, the damage it can cause is quite a lot. So now I had a good base of power-ups to launch myself into the air against, and the slow movement speed meant that even the slowest characters could easily keep themselves safe.

From what I’ve seen of the first game, the second seems to have done a lot more to address the mobility issues that the original tap Titans had. The Hero Evolution controls are a lot smoother and responsive, allowing you to quickly turn in place to avoid being attacked, as well as zoom about the map to find your weak points.
The only bad thing I’ve seen is that you still can’t turn in places that would let you use the Blades, the two weapons available to you in the game. These weapons are also a lot less powerful than the ones you can pick up in the first game, but the additional damage they deal is well worth the short drop in power.
Titan Mode is the mode where you can really show off the abilities of your recruits, and where you’ll find a steady stream of income for powering up your character. It’s actually pretty fun to play, and introduces new challenges to the gameplay of the game in an exciting way. The graphics are all-new, with very nice lighting effects and an extra ‘pop’ to the sound effects. You’ll definitely need a good PC to run this mode, as the game can get quite hectic when you start sending out a lot of missions on the fly.
The campaign mode of the game is much more linear than the Titan Mode, and it’s really not as polished or as well-designed as the first game. It’s really more of a tutorial-type thing, teaching you about the various weapons and skills you can unlock along the way. It does introduce a few characters that could be interesting additions to your growing party of Titans, such as the sword master who can send his allies into a frenzy and cause huge amounts of damage from a distance. Unfortunately, he’s just another low-level character who will usually die easily and won’t make a big impact on the game’s overall score.
The biggest feature of the game is probably the “lords” system, where you recruit more powerful Titans into your army and play against stronger opponents in head-to-head matches. You do have to recruit them, but unlike in the first game, recruiting more lords means having to pay them more money!
This change, though it’s understandable, can leave you frustrated if you don’t have enough credits to afford the lords you want. This is a minor complaint, however – if you want to play this game with the same group of people who played the original, you can do so for free on the official Titan-fall blog.
